Electrical Design Engineer

Structo is currently looking for an Electrical Design Engineer for our growing technical team. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be involved in the full product development lifecycle of our printers, starting from helping shape the plan and vision in the drawing board to getting the product out in the market to optimizing production in the factory shop floor. You will work closely with multidisciplinary team consisting of product designers, test engineers, chemical formulation team and manufacturing team. You will help design embedded control systems, motion control, power electronics and safety system. You will also help ensure manufacturability and regulatory compliance of the product. This role provides the rare opportunity of you taking part in actual product development, making immediate impact to the business and tremendous learning experience.

key responsibilities:
  • Design embedded control systems for the next generation 3D Printer
  • Design hardware, source components, develop schematics, manage layout and test prototypes to validate hardware
  • Learn and maintain PLC codes for the motion control system of the current generation 3D printers
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software and materials science engineer to successfully develop, test, validate and manufacture hardware
  • Start to finish ownership of hardware, from specification to design, prototype and manufacturing
requirements:
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Relevant experience with electrical design for products or industrial systems
  • Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Ability to succinctly draft and present technical information to audiences with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to fine-detail while maintaining project-scale perspective.
  • Knowledge of embedded system design, PCB layout, common MCU interfacing standards such as I2C and SPI.
  • Basic programming skills in common languages such as C/C++ and Python and familiarity with the Linux environment.
  • Ability to prototype and quickly build test systems is of utmost importance.
  • Any knowledge or experience in the following areas will be beneficial - PLC programming, Motion control, EMC and regulatory compliance (IEC, CE, TUV, UL etc.), 3D Printing, Engineering Software – Solidworks, Solidworks Electrical, AutoCAD, Altium, SPICE or any other.
  • Self-motivated and highly driven
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
